Bresnahan Announces $3 Million Federal Grant for Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport
POCONO, PA: Today, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) announced a $3 million grant to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the construction of a T-Hangar building at the Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport (MPO).
“This grant is a win for Monroe County and the entire Pocono region,” said Rep. Bresnahan. “Investing in our local airports strengthens regional connectivity, supports local economy, and improves the infrastructure needed to keep our communities and businesses moving.”
This $3 million investment will fund the construction of a new T-Hangar building at MPO, increasing aircraft storage capacity and supporting general aviation operations. MPO plays a critical role in the region’s transportation network, including emergency response.
“We appreciate this grant, which will help us continue to build up our infrastructure and provide additional resources for pilots and emergency services,” said Dave Moyer, Chairman of MPO. “This investment strengthens our airport and the Pocono community.”
This award is part of the Federal Aviation Administration’s broader efforts to modernize airport infrastructure and ensure safe, efficient air travel across the country. It also highlights the federal government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening transportation and economic development across Northeastern Pennsylvania, efforts strongly supported by Rep. Bresnahan as a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
This grant was originally a community project funding (CPF) request submitted by then-Rep. Matt Cartwright for FY 2023, and Rep. Bresnahan has continued the fight to ensure the grant was fully awarded to MPO.
