Bresnahan Celebrates $25 Billion Energy Investment in NEPA
WASHINGTON, DC: Today, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) released the following statement following the announcement by Blackstone Infrastructure to invest $25 billion in Northeastern Pennsylvania to build new natural gas power plants.
“This confirms that leaders across the country know what I have known my whole life: Northeastern Pennsylvania has the potential for greatness,” said Rep. Bresnahan. “Our region is full of untapped power, and is more than ready for new growth, investments, and opportunities. This is a $25 billion investment that will bring thousands of family-sustaining jobs to our region. I thank Blackstone Infrastructure for choosing NEPA to be a part of their future.”
The energy produced by this investment will be used to power data centers and the country’s rapidly digitalizing economy. The project is expected to create 6,000 construction jobs over a 10-year period and 3,000 permanent jobs.
The announcement of the $25 billion investment was made at the Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit hosted by Senator David McCormick (PA) at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
