Bresnahan Visits TSA Agents at AVP to Support Unpaid Federal Workers Amid Shutdown

October 16, 2025

AVOCA, PA: Today, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) visited Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (AVP) to personally thank them for their continued dedication and service during the ongoing government shutdown. TSA agents are deemed essential and are required to remain on the job despite not receiving a paycheck.

“These men and women did not sign up to work for free, and they shouldn’t have to,” said Rep. Bresnahan. “If the government expects them to show up, the government should pay them. It’s that simple. They’re doing their jobs. Congress needs to do ours.”

During the visit, Rep. Bresnahan delivered pizza from Luca’s Pizza in West Pittston to on-duty TSA agents and spoke with them about the personal and professional impact they’re facing during the funding lapse. This visit is one of many steps he is taking to support federal workers in Northeastern Pennsylvania and beyond.

Bresnahan is a cosponsor of the Aviation Funding Stability Act, which would guarantee immediate pay for essential FAA employees are during government shutdowns, using funds already collected through the Airport and Airway Trust Fund.

“Shutdowns shouldn’t punish the very people keeping the country running,” continued Rep. Bresnahan. “This legislation is about fairness, respect, and basic accountability. I will continue to fight to make sure Northeastern Pennsylvania’s federal workers get every dollar they have earned.”
