Congressman Bresnahan tours Salvation Army center, highlights essential community programs
WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — Congressman Rob Bresnahan, made a stop at the Salvation Army Wilkes-Barre Corps Monday to tour the Kirby Family House, a transitional housing program, which provides counseling, housing and education to families experiencing homelessness as they begin to rebuild their lives.
The visit included a tour of the tech lab, gym, food pantry, dining rooms, and chapel.
Bresnahan along with several leaders of the Salvation Army community discussed the Corps’ ongoing mission to serve those in need throughout Luzerne County.
“Well it was really powerful to be able to come visit the Salvation Army in Wilkes-Barre and get a better understanding of the programs and the overall impact that this facility is having on the lives of so many people right here in northeastern Pennsylvania,” said Bresnahan.
Bresnahan will be honored by the Wilkes-Barre Corps later this year with a Community Impact Award at its annual fundraiser in September.
