July 3, 2026

WILKES-BARRE — The Shapiro Administration has announced the expanded Property Tax/Rent Rebate (PTRR) program will deliver $226.4 million to nearly 376,000 Pennsylvanians starting this week.

This initial round of rebates began being distributed on Wednesday, July 1, to seniors, widows and widowers, and residents with disabilities who applied for a rebate on property taxes or rent paid in 2025.

EXETER — Town residents and officials, as well as local political leaders, gathered at Exeter Town Hall on Thursday afternoon to not only honor America’s 250th birthday but also to congratulate Eagle Scout Connor Pribula for completing his Eagle Scout project of purchasing and installing 54 American Flags on Wyoming Avenue in the borough.

The main event was to honor Pribula for his effort to raise money, install hardware, and American flags on telephone poles on Rt. 11 in the borough.

WASHINGTON, DC — The week of Sunday, June 28, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) introduced legislation to strengthen coordination between the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Through this coordination, the Protect Seniors and Veterans from Healthcare Fraud Act would prevent duplicative billing, reduce waste, and better protect taxpayer dollars. 

Bresnahan first spoke about his legislation during a House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Health Subcommittee Hearing on Tuesday, June 30.

WASHINGTON DC, (WOLF) — Congressman Rob Bresnahan has introduced legislation he says would protect local governments from legal challenges by data center developers and require approved projects receiving federal incentives to provide tangible benefits to the communities where they are built.

The Republican congressman, whose district includes much of Northeastern Pennsylvania, announced the introduction of the Local Control Protection Act on Wednesday.

U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan wants federal legislation designed to protect local municipalities amid the proliferation of data center proposals in small communities like the ones he represents in Northeast Pennsylvania.

The congressman on Thursday introduced legislation that would block companies from suing municipalities in federal court if their project is denied based on documented findings about public health, infrastructure, community character or similar concerns.

WILKES-BARRE — Addressing the controversial topic of data centers, U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan said Thursday that billion-dollar corporations should never supersede the voices of those living in affected communities.

Bresnahan, R-Dallas Township, introduced the Local Control Protection Act — legislation to curb the ability of large corporations to litigate and attempt to overturn local decisions regarding data centers and ensure approved developments maintain a benefit to the community.

The star, which once shined over Milford Borough, is returning to The Knob, Pike County Commissioner Matthew Osterberg announced, acknowledging a collaborative effort involving local organizations, federal officials, community leaders and the National Park Service to bring back the star, which was removed in 2017.

The star will be reestablished and illuminated on July 4, as part of the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

WASHINGTON, D.C —  Today, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) voted in favor of the Secure America Act, legislation providing long-term funding for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), ensuring the agencies have the resources needed to secure protect America and its borders. The legislation passed the House today by a vote of 214-212.
