SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Looking ahead to 2026, Rep. Rob Bresnahan unveiled $500,000 in federal funding to modernize the Scranton Police Department's technology and equipment—an investment aimed at enhancing officer safety and strengthening day-to-day operations.

Bresnahan joined Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday, as well as law enforcement officials and community partners, to discuss public safety and the importance of local law enforcement during a roundtable.

EXETER — Exeter officially launched its multi-million dollar sewer and stormwater rehabilitation project Tuesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony outside the borough building.

The $8 million project, about 6 years in the making, will replace aging, deteriorating sewer lines that separate the storm and sanitary sewer systems, reducing the risk of sewage backups, flooding, and environmental contamination.

The project was awarded to Pioneer Construction, out of Honesdale, and will take 18 months to complete, culminating in a newly repaved Wyoming Avenue.

HONESDALE, PA — On February 12, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) announced Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers has been awarded a $936,981 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under the Health Center Program. The funding will strengthen healthcare access and services for people across Northeastern Pennsylvania, according to Bresnahan's office.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan (PA-08) announced 22 nominations from Pennsylvania’s Eighth Congressional District to the United States Service Academies for the Class of 2030.

Two Greater Pittston women have been nominated.

Receiving a nomination are Eliana Parra, of Wyoming, a 2024 Wyoming Seminary graduate, and Taylor Gashi, of Harding, a Wyoming Area senior.

Parra is currently a student at the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, RI, after spending one year out of high school at King’s College.

WILKES-BARRE, PA — On February 10, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) announced the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center has been selected for critical infrastructure upgrades as part of a nationwide initiative by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). These improvements will directly benefit veterans across Northeastern Pennsylvania, helping ensure the facility remains safe, reliable, and able to deliver the high-quality care our veterans have earned.

On Dec. 16, 2024, 17 days before I was sworn into Congress, I joined community leaders to discuss the potential closure of three local hospitals, Regional Hospital of Scranton, Moses Taylor Hospital and Wilkes-Barre General, after a deal between WoodBridge Healthcare and Community Health Systems fell through. It was clear that what was truly at stake was the future of local healthcare in Northeast Pennsylvania. I vowed to make protecting it a top priority.
