Rep. Bresnahan votes to bring home $6.5M for NEPA projects
WILKES-BARRE — U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan Jr. voted this week in favor of H.R. 6938 — the Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Act, 2026.
This package, which includes three of the 12 appropriations bills for Fiscal Year 2026, passed the House by a vote of 397-28.
“I came to Congress with one goal — delivering for the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania,” said Bresnahan, R-Dallas Township. “I’m proud that this package does exactly that by funding local law enforcement to keep our communities safe, strengthening our economy, boosting American energy independence, building local infrastructure projects, and investing in the Army Corps of Engineers.”
Bresnahan said he helped secure $6,537,584 in Community Project Funding (CPF) for seven projects in Northeastern Pennsylvania. More specific information on each project will be provided in the near future.
The projects are as follows:
• $1,144,790 for the Kingston Municipal Police Department equipment and technology upgrades
• $372,415 for the City of Wilkes-Barre equipment upgrades
• $1,020,379 for the Monroe County DA Opioid Crimes Section
• $1,000,000 for the Dallas Area Municipal Authority wastewater infrastructure expansion
• $1,250,000 for the Milford Borough sewer extension project
• $500,000 for the Scranton Police Department equipment and technology upgrades
• $1,250,000 for the Monroe County wastewater treatment project
“This package sends over $6.5 million taxpayer dollars back home to NEPA,” said Bresnahan. “The investment will support seven projects across the district, from new security cameras to help the Scranton Police Department catch criminals, to wastewater treatment plant upgrades in Monroe and Pike Counties. Every dollar is going directly where it belongs — our local communities.”
