Representative Rob Bresnahan provides insight on Government Shutdown
SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — It's been over 10 days since the government shutdown, and thousands of workers across the country are working without pay as Republicans and Democrats struggle to agree on a funding bill.
In the commonwealth, the state budget also sits at a standstill for over 100 days. Representative Rob Bresnahan says the Senate was released to go home and he says he is on a 48-hour recall notice as to when they are expected to return back to Washington.
“We have been working with various different school districts to find different ways to release funding but with Harrisburg at a standstill in conjunction with the federal government at a standstill, it’s a really unique set of circumstances for people in Pennsylvania,” said Rep. Bresnahan.
Representative Bresnahan encourages his constituents to continue to contact his office, where he will continue to remain in contact. He says he did not vote to shut down the federal government, but will work to try to find a resolution.
