Senator Dave McCormick tours Scranton Army Ammunition Plant
SCRANTON, Pa. — Starting as just steel billets before transforming to its final form as powder-coated artillery shells, Senator Dave McCormick got to see the whole process from point A to Z, during a tour of the General Dynamics Scranton Army Ammunition plant.
"Critical to our national security. It's critical to Pennsylvania's economy, and Pennsylvania should be at the forefront of this new money and these efforts," said Senator McCormick (R), Pennsylvania.
"General Dynamics employs over 1000 people throughout Pennsylvania's 8th Congressional District, and just being able to walk through the halls and and through the facility is truly incredible," said Congressman Rob Bresnahan (R) 8th District.
Senator McCormick and Congressman Rob Bresnahan toured the facility that's been operated in downtown Scranton since the 1950s.
In recent years, production at the plant has shot up, becoming the largest supplier of 155 mm howitzer rounds for the Ukrainian war effort.
