Tenor Health purchase of 3 NEPA hospitals approved

(WBRE/WYOU) — A deal for Tenor Health to acquire three local hospitals was approved Wednesday, according to U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan Jr., who represents Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District.

Bresnahan posted Wednesday that he received confirmation that the deal for Tenor Health to acquire ownership of Regional Hospital of Scranton, Moses Taylor Hospital, and Wilkes-Barre General.

The deal was pending for several months, with employees receiving notice of a potential ownership change in August 2025.

An official from Tenor Health provided a statement confirming the acquisition, thanking the Shapiro administration, Bresnahan, and Rep. Bridget Kosierowski for their collective work on the deal.

Tenor Health Foundation is in receipt of the approval from the PA Department of Health for the acquisition of Regional Hospital of Scranton, Moses Taylor Hospital and Wilkes Barre General Hospital. We thank the Department for its review and thank the Shapiro Administration for their oversight in the process. Congressman Bresnahan was relentless in his efforts to ensure access to healthcare in the region remains strong and Representative Bridget Kosierowski was instrumental in getting the approval completed for her communities.
