Bresnahan's Statement on OMB Guidance
WASHINGTON, DC: Today, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) released the below statement regarding the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) guidance enacting a pause in specific areas of federal funding.
“Our office has received calls surrounding the recent OMB guidance concerning a freeze on federal funding,” said Rep. Bresnahan. “I understand many people are confused about which programs will be affected by this freeze.
“First and foremost, this pause does not apply to any program that provides a direct benefit to the American people. Vital programs such as SNAP, Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid will not be affected. Additionally, funds for small businesses, farmers, Pell grants, Head Start, rental assistance and other similar programs will not be paused.
“This pause was designed to give federal agencies time to ensure government funding is spent in accordance with the President’s policies. This decision was made to allow for the review of government policies that hurt, not help, American citizens. Recent programs that have resulted in overreach by the federal government should be examined to make sure the government is working for the American people as it should.
“It is my priority first and foremost to protect and improve the lives of the constituents of Pennsylvania’s Eighth Congressional District. Our office will continue to monitor for any new information pertaining to this freeze and provide updates to the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania.”
