HONESDALE, PA — On February 12, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) announced Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers has been awarded a $936,981 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under the Health Center Program. Lehigh Valley Health Network’s newest "neighborhood" concept hospital has opened in the Poconos.
On Jan. 27, Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono Creek, located at 1328 Golden Slipper Road, Bartonsville, opened its doors.
This hospital in Pocono Township is LVHN’s first neighborhood hospital in the Poconos. Neighborhood hospitals have also opened in Macungie and Gilbertsville, and a fourth location in Hellertown is planned to open by early 2027.
Tenor Health Foundation has received the required Pennsylvania Department of Health approval to acquire Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and two Lackawanna County hospitals, Tenor Chief Executive Officer and founder Radha Savitala said in a statement Wednesday.
“We thank the Department for its review and thank the Shapiro Administration for their oversight in the process,” Savitala’s statement said, referring to state Gov. Josh Shapiro.
Pennsylvania Health Department officials have given their blessing to nonprofit Tenor Health Foundation's application to acquire three Northeast Pennsylvania hospitals, multiple sources said Wednesday.
The deal is expected to see Tenor take over Wilkes-Barre General, Moses Taylor and Scranton Regional hospitals, which are owned by Commonwealth Health System. A potential sale price has not been disclosed.
