WILKES-BARRE — U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan Jr. held his second telephone town hall of the month on Tuesday to update constituents on the ongoing government shutdown.

The call began at 5:30 p.m. and the congressman’s staff said 13,000 constituents from across Northeast Pennsylvania tuned in to ask questions and hear directly from Rep. Bresnahan.

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — It's been over 10 days since the government shutdown, and thousands of workers across the country are working without pay as Republicans and Democrats struggle to agree on a funding bill.

In the commonwealth, the state budget also sits at a standstill for over 100 days. Representative Rob Bresnahan says the Senate was released to go home and he says he is on a 48-hour recall notice as to when they are expected to return back to Washington.

WILKES-BARRE — U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan Jr. introduced H.R. 5695 — the No Taxation Without Operation Act — on Monday, the sixth day of the government shutdown. The legislation, according to a news release from Bresnahan’s office, would prevent the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) from “taking Americans’ hard-earned money, while the rest of the government is not delivering on their services.”

SCRANTON, PA: Today, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) announced the Electric City Trolley Museum, a volunteer non-profit museum located on federal property, will remain open despite the government shutdown. The Trolley Museum shares its location and road entrance with the Steamtown National Historic Site, which is operated by the National Parks Service (NPS) and closed during the government shutdown.
