WASHINGTON, DC — On Thursday, June 5, the U.S. House of Representatives passed Representative Rob Bresnahan’s, Jr. (PA-08) legislation, H.R. 2987, the Capping Excessive Awarding of SBLC Entrants (CEASE) Act. The legislation, which passed by a bipartisan vote of 214-198, will restore responsible and correct oversight capabilities of the Small Business Administration (SBA) for small business lending companies (SBLCs) for which they are the primary regulator.
WILKES-BARRE — U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan Jr. said on Wednesday that he introduced the Save BRIC Act — legislation requiring the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to disburse funding through the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program to help states prepare against natural disasters.
Bresnahan, R-Dallas Township, said the bipartisan bill, which he introduced with U.S. Rep. Greg Stanton, D-Arizona, would protect the program from elimination.

WILKES-BARRE — After months of negotiating — and a five-day strike in February that caught national attention — over 800 unionized Geisinger Wyoming Valley nurses have reached a contract agreement with Geisinger executives. According to a release from SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania, the contract covers nurses at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre and Geisinger Healthplex CenterPoint in Pittston.
