WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — Congressman Rob Bresnahan, made a stop at the Salvation Army Wilkes-Barre Corps Monday to tour the Kirby Family House, a transitional housing program, which provides counseling, housing and education to families experiencing homelessness as they begin to rebuild their lives.

The visit included a tour of the tech lab, gym, food pantry, dining rooms, and chapel.

BUTLER TWP. — Although the U.S. Department of Labor has moved to close Job Corp centers like Keystone, U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan, R-8, Dallas Twp., said they are training students to take part in the growing economy of Northeast Pennsylvania.

“That’s something that I felt that Job Corps does exceptionally well,” Bresnahan said at a news conference on Monday, “So it’s certainly frustrating to see what they are currently going through.”

WILKES-BARRE, PA — On June 25,  U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) announced over $11 million in federal funding for Head Start programs in Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties. The grants will help provide early childhood education, healthcare, nutrition, and family support services to children and families across the region.

WILKES-BARRE — U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan on Monday stopped by the Wilkes-Barre Salvation Army, located at 17 S. Pennsylvania Ave., as volunteers gave the congressman a tour of the facility and an overview of the social services provided there. Rev. Bonnie Camarda, director of partnerships, and Captain Ismael Ortiz, spoke with Bresnahan about the Salvation Army’s food pantry and as well as the organization’s transitional housing program and life skills classes.

Joseph Drake of Hawley, PA with the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest honor presented by Congress. Sgt. Drake and Pfc. John Wardell accepted the medal on behalf of all WWII Army Rangers.
