Despite voting in favor of President Donald Trump’s slash-and-cut spending agenda during a U.S. House vote earlier this week, Rep. Rob Bresnahan said Thursday that Northeast Pennsylvanians have “absolutely nothing to worry about” regarding sweeping budget cuts to vital safety-net programs such as Medicaid and Social Security.

WASHINGTON, DC: Today, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) released the following statement on H.Con.Res. 14, the House’s Fiscal Year 2025 budget resolution, which passed by a vote of 217-215.
“Last night’s vote was just a procedural step to start federal budget negotiations and does NOT change any current laws. I will fight to protect working-class families in Northeastern Pennsylvania and stand with President Trump in opposing gutting Medicaid. My position on this has not and will not change.”

Pennsylvania is celebrating the release of Pittsburgh-area teacher Marc Fogel, who was wrongfully detained in a Russian prison for three years.
Russian authorities arrested Fogel and sentenced him to 14 years for possessing a small amount of medical marijuana to cope with pain from a severe back injury.
One of those celebrating is fellow western Pennsylvanian, U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick (R-Pa.), who met Fogel’s 95-year-old mother while campaigning and continued to advocate for Fogel’s release.
