U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan (R-PA) recently opposed action by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to cancel the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program as well as all applications from fiscal years 2020-2023.

“This decision is detrimental to my constituents, and I strongly urge you to reverse this decision,” wrote Rep. Bresnahan in an April 9 letter sent to Cameron Hamilton, senior official performing the duties of FEMA administrator.

WILKES-BARRE — After months of negotiating — and a five-day strike in February that caught national attention — over 800 unionized Geisinger Wyoming Valley nurses have reached a contract agreement with Geisinger executives. According to a release from SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania, the contract covers nurses at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre and Geisinger Healthplex CenterPoint in Pittston.

Today, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) released the below statement following the announcement of a contract deal between Geisinger Health System and the registered nurses at the system’s Luzerne County campuses.

Republican U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan contradicted the Trump administration’s contention that a certain Federal Emergency Management Agency funding program is wasteful and advocated for restoration of $2.5 million for flood buyouts in Scranton.

On Tuesday, Scranton Mayor Paige Gebhardt Cognetti issued a letter to Bresnahan, whose district includes Scranton, as well as to Republican U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick and Democratic U.S. Sen. John Fetterman, to advocate in Congress for reinstating and preserving BRIC or an equivalent funding source.

Bresnahan Jr. on Wednesday said the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s recent announcement that it would cancel the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities program is a decision that is detrimental to his constituents, and he strongly urged that it be reversed.
