WILKES-BARRE — U.S. Rep Dan Meuser said this week that Pennsylvania will receive $193 million this year through the Rural Transformation Fund — an investment that he says will expand access to care and strengthen workforce training across the Commonwealth.
Meuser, R-Dallas, said he strongly advocated for and voted in favor of the Working Families Tax Cut package, which created the fund that he said will transform health care across rural Pennsylvania.
There is no telling where the debate on extending the pandemic-era subsidies that kept health insurance costs in check for millions of Americans who buy insurance through the Affordable Care Act will go from here. The answer could range anywhere from bipartisan victory for Obamacare to, the much more likely result of, nowhere at all.

WASHINGTON, DC — On December 17, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) signed Discharge Petition No. 10, offered by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08). The petition would force legislation to the House Floor to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) enhanced premium tax credits that are set to expire at the end of this year. He was one of four Republicans to do so, signing with Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01), Mike Lawler (NY-17), and Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07).
WASHINGTON, DC — On December 16, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) announced he signed Discharge Petition No. 11 to provide for the consideration of H.R. 1908, the End Congressional Stock Trading Act. Rep. Bresnahan signed the petition on December 10, 2025, and was the 37th Member to do so. The petition currently has 67 signatures.
“This will give Members and Americans alike the framework needed to offer transparency and accountability in Congress,” said Rep. Bresnahan.

The procedural maneuver followed months of gridlock as lawmakers debated how to prevent major increases in health-care costs set to hit consumers in January.
