WASHINGTON, DC — On November 4, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) along with Rep. Josh Harder (CA-09) introduced the Helping Our Heroes Act, honoring and supporting the volunteer emergency responders who step up and risk their lives to protect their communities. If any longtime reader of the Times-Tribune or its sister papers (Citizens’ Voice, Standard-Speaker, and Republican Herald) reads their most recent editorial on the government shutdown, you might be left feeling a little confused (“Now, not later, is best time to address ACA tax credit,” Oct. 26). WILKES-BARRE — U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan, Jr., R-Dallas Township, this week introduced H.R. 5836 — the Keep WIC Working Act — legislation to ensure the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) remains fully funded and operational during any lapse in federal appropriations.
The bill would guarantee that mothers and young children who depend on WIC do not lose access to vital nutrition due to “political dysfunction” in Washington.
The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) would remain fully funded and operational during any lapse in federal appropriations under legislation sponsored on Oct. 28 by U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan (R-PA).
“Moms and babies should not go hungry because Washington cannot do its job,” Rep. Bresnahan said. “This shutdown has created major uncertainty for WIC participants and providers nationwide.”
