WAYNE and PIKE COUNTIES, PA — The Wallenpaupack Area School District (WASD) celebrated the receipt of $3 million in federal funding for the Wayne/Pike Career and Technical Center (CTC) on February 26. Officials pointed to the funding both as a financial boon and as a sign of belief in the program’s aims.
“The check being presented today represents resources, but more importantly it represents belief—belief in all of our students, belief in our educators, belief in our workforce and belief in the future of this very region,” said Keith Gunuskey, WASD superintendent.

NANTICOKE — Dr. Mehmet Oz and U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan Jr. toured Luzerne County Community College’s nursing facilities Friday, observing training exercises ranging from virtual reality simulations to CPR demonstrations.
Oz and Bresnahan met with college leadership and students to discuss the nursing curriculum and see how simulation equipment is used to meet requirements.

During a roundtable discussion Wednesday, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday said his office sees a range of technology-fueled crime, from scamming senior citizens to identifying youth vulnerable to human trafficking.
Technology has “supercharged the bad guys’ ability,” he said.
But law enforcement can counter with state-of-the-art technology that identifies schemes and addresses them before they become reality.
